Frequently Asked Questions

Key Dates to Know

The conversion of your accounts from HBA to BFCU will take place from Friday, July 7, 2023 through Monday, July 10, 2023.

Monday, June 19

Debit/ATM Card: Your new BFCU Debit/ATM card will arrive this week to the primary member at no charge. Your BFCU debit card will also serve as your ATM card. 

PIN: Your new PIN for your BFCU Debit/ATM card will arrive this week. (Separate mailer from your card.)

Friday, July 7

Online/Mobile: The Online Banking service via www.homebankofar.com/and the HomeBank of Arkansas Mobile Banking services will be available until 5:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2023. Access to BFCU Online and Mobile Banking services will begin on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Debit/ATM Cards: Your HomeBank of Arkansas Debit/ATM cards will be accessible through Sunday, July 9, 2023. During the conversion weekend, you may experience limited funds access, so be sure to plan.

Monday, July 10

Accounts: The conversion of your accounts is complete, and you can access your new BFCU accounts at any BFCU location and existing HBA locations. You can also use your BFCU Debit/ATM card and your BFCU checks. Be sure to activate your BFCU Debit/ATM card using the phone number on the card sticker.

Checks: New personal BFCU checks will arrive to the primary checking account holders, at no charge, before Monday, July 10, 2023. Temporary checks are available for print at BFCU locations on Monday, July 10, 2023.

BFCU Online/Mobile: Online and mobile banking services will be available. Visit www.bfcu.org and select login. Enter your 8-digit member number as your username and the last four digits of your SSN as your password. You can download the BFCU app by searching Barksdale Federal Credit Union in your app store. Use your new username and password to log in to the mobile app. If you have not created a unique username and password yet, select “Sign Up” and input your 8-digit member number as your username and the last four digits of your SSN as your password.

Locations: The HBA location hours and phone numbers will remain the same. You may also visit any other BFCU location.

Deposits

Will my account number change?

Yes. You will receive a membership card from BFCU with your unique member number.

How will I access my money?

Please continue business as usual through Sunday, July 9th. Beginning Monday, July 10th, you will be able to access your money at any BFCU location or ATM location. (see Electronic Services Q&A on how to access online and mobile banking)

Will I receive a new Debit/ATM card?

Yes. A new BFCU Debit/ATM card will arrive to the primary account holder, at no charge, during the week of June 19. BFCU debit cards are also your ATM card. You will not begin using your new BFCU Debit/ ATM card until Monday, July 10. Be sure to activate your BFCU Debit/ATM card using the phone number on the sticker on the card. If you did not receive your card, you may get one printed at the Greenbrier location on Monday, July 10.

Will I still be able to use my current debit card?

Your existing HBA Debit/ATM card will be accessible through Sunday, July 9. You may experience limited funds access during that conversion weekend. Beginning Monday, July 10, you will start using your BFCU Debit/ATM card. Be sure to activate your BFCU Debit/ATM card using the phone number on the sticker on the card.

Will my direct deposit still come?

Yes. Your direct deposit will now come to BFCU. Contact your payroll department and provide your new nine-digit routing number (311175093) and your new BFCU 10-digit account number.

What about bills/memberships that come automatically out fo my account?

Beginning Monday, July 10, contact any vendors/businesses and provide your new nine-digit routing number (311175093) and your new BFCU 10-digit account number to avoid any delays in processing.

I never received my new BFCU debit/ATM card in the mail - whom do I contact?

If you have not received a new BFCU Debit/ATM card by Monday, July 10, you may visit the Greenbrier location to have your new card printed onsite with the instant issue machine. You may also contact the Card Services department at 318-549-8200 or 800-647-2328, option 6.

I never received my new BFCU membership card in the mail - whom do I contact?

After conversion weekend, you may visit any location and have a membership card printed for you.

Do I need new checks?

New BFCU personal checks will arrive to the primary checking account holders, at no charge, before Monday, July 10, 2023. Temporary checks are available for print at BFCU locations on Monday, July 10, 2023, if needed. 

Will I have ODP?

Yes, you will have ODP. ODP is overdraft protection which covers transactions on your account with a transfer from your savings account.  You will need to enroll for ODPP if you wish to have that additional coverage.  ODPP is Overdraft Privilege Plus to cover debit card and ACH transactions.  You will need to fill out BFCU's ODPP form and sign it, so we have it on file. We will mail this form out with your membership card, or you can visit any location and request ODPP.

Did my deposit rates change?

According to the rate and fee schedule, your savings and checking account rates will vary. The current rate on your Certificate Account will be honored until maturity. The renewal rate and term will reflect BFCU's current rates and terms at maturity.

What type of fees can I expect to change?

Please refer to our rate and fee disclosure for a complete listing of all applicable rates and fees.

How will my statements work?

You will continue to receive your monthly statement and your quarterly statement through conversion weekend from HBA. On July 10th your account will move over to BFCU's system. You will then receive a July statement from BFCU for the period of conversion weekend – July 31 for all of your accounts. You will then receive monthly statements on your accounts (i.e., savings, checking, certificates, and loans).

How will interest be paid to my accounts?

Your account interest will be paid through July 7 and will reflect on your final HBA statement. You will receive an interest payment for the remainder of July on your July BFCU statement. Interest will be paid at the end of each month.

What if I already have a BFCU account?

If you already have an account with BFCU, beginning Monday, July 10 you can call 800-647-2328 ext 1320 and request that your accounts are combined, or you may leave them separate.

Can I open up additional accounts at BFCU before conversion weekend?

Yes. You can visit any BFCU location and take advantage of our great rates and services. Please note that we will not have you in the BFCU system until after the conversion weekend, so there will be a bit more paperwork to complete.

Will I receive a 1099-INT from HBA and BFCU?

No. You will receive one 1099-INT from BFCU, reflecting interest paid from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.

Consumer Lending

How will I make my loan payment?

Please continue business as usual through Friday, July 7. Beginning Monday, July 10, loan payments can be made by visiting your local center, through online banking at www.bfcu.org, by calling 800-647-2328, option 4, or mailing a check to Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Attention: P.O. Box 643000, Dallas, Texas 75264-3000.

Can I have coupons for my loan?

Yes. After conversion weekend, we will send you payment coupons.

Can I refinance my HBA auto loan rate to BFCU's auto loan rate?

Yes, you will have the option of refinancing your current loan to BFCU’s rates based on credit qualifications. You may visit your local center or call 800-647-2328, option 7, to inquire or visit www.bfcu.org and apply.

Can I apply for a BFCU VISA® Credit Card?

Yes. You can visit www.bfcu.org and apply.

Electronic Services

How will I access my account online?

Please continue business as usual through Friday, July 7. During the week of July 10, you will receive a membership card from BFCU with your eight-digit member number. Beginning Monday, July 10, you will be able to visit BFCU's website at www.bfcu.org and log in with your member number as your username and the last four digits of your SSN as your password.

How will I access my mobile account?

Please continue business as usual through Friday, July 10. During the week of July 10, you will receive a membership card from BFCU with your eight-digit member number. Beginning Monday, July 10, you will be able to log in to BFCU's mobile app. Download the BFCU app from the Apple Store or Android Marketplace (search Barksdale Federal Credit Union) and log in with your member number as your username and the last four digits of your SSN as your password. (Be sure to click Sign Up in the lower left of the screen if you have not already created a username and password within Online Banking.)

Did my Bill Pay items transfer over to the BFCU eStatement system?

No. You will need to log in to your new BFCU Online Banking account and set up your Bill Pay items.

Did my eStatement information transfer over to the BFCU eStatement system?

No. You will need to re-enroll for eStatements via your BFCU Online Banking account.

Mortgage Lending

Who do I contact to discuss my mortgage lending questions?

You may call or text the mortgage lending department at (318) 549-8170.

How do I set up my mortgage loan for automatic payments?

If you had your mortgage payment set up via ACH (automatic) or would like your mortgage payment set up via ACH, please contact us by phone or text at (318) 549-8170.

When will I receive my mortgage loan statement?

You should receive your mortgage loan statement before July 1, 2023.
